Provisional figures show that KSI casualties in 2006 were 64 - which is well below both the target for the year and the 2005 figure.

Comparison with Thurrock and New Essex
Provisional figures show that Southend-on-Sea had a casualty rate per 100,000 population of 39.94 This compares to an average figure of 71.64 across New Essex, and 76.40 in Thurrock.
