Basildon - news (updated 15 June 2010)On your Bike!Police in Pitsea put youngsters through their paces as part of Operation Velo. PCSOs from Pitsea South East neighbourhood policing team organised a day of cycling skills for 40 children from the local area at Eversley Leisure Centre. British Cycling were on hand to help train the children, who were accompanied by PCSOs on Operation Velo cycles. PCSO Mandy Moxon said: “This event was an enjoyable day for us all. The children really got stuck in learning new bike skills, and our thanks goes to British cycling who gave their expertise for free. “Cycling is a fantastic way to get around, and we want to make sure that children in our area know how to do it safely, and learning new skills is a great way to teach them this. It has also been a good opportunity for youngsters to meet their local officers, and for them to learn about Op Velo and what we are doing to keep the area safe.” Click here for more Basildon news. |
