Essex Safety Camera Working Group
The core members of the Essex Safety Camera Working Group (ESCWG) are Essex County Council, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, Thurrock Council, Essex Police, Highways Agency and Her Majesty's Courts Service.
The principal aims and objectives of the ESCWG are;
- Maximise the casualty reduction potential of safety camera activities;
- Promote and develop an efficient and effective Partnership working arrangement;
- Ensure safety camera activities are carried out in a fair, consistent but robust manner;
- Maintain/enhance public support for safety camera activities;
- Conduct safety camera enforcement in the most cost effective manner;
- Integrate safety camera activities with other casualty reduction strategies developed either by the LTP authorities or Essex Police; and
- Consider the most appropriate and sustainable operational arrangements in the light of continued reduced LTP funding from the DfT via the Road Safety Specific Grant.
