Business Drivers Driving is the most dangerous work activity that most people do. More people are killed or injured in at-work road accidents than in all other occupational accidents put together. Common causes of these unnecessary tragedies include: speeding, drink driving, non-seat belt wearing, careless driving, distractions, business journeys and inexperience. Employers have clear duties under health and safety law to manage occupational road risk in the same way that they manage other health and safety risks. Essex County Council has put together a programme of seminars and workshops to assist employers and drivers/riders to manage their risks whilst driving on company business. There are currently no seminars or workshops planned for 2011/12. Does your company have what it takes to become a Driving for Better Business champion?
Driving for Better Business is a government backed campaign, launched in April 2007; it is aimed at raising awareness of the importance of work-related road safety in the business community and public sector by using advocates drawn from these communities to promote the business benefits of managing it effectively.
