Christmas Drink DriveThe Uttlesford Road Safety team, Uttlesford District Council's Drug and Alcohol Officer and Essex Police have been busy engaging with the public around the effects of drinking and driving. During the run up to Christmas, three interactive information stands were held at Great Dunmow Tesco store, Birchanger Service Station on the M11 and in Saffron Walden Market Square. These stands were used to engage with members of the public regarding the effects of alcohol, explaination of units of alcohol and the risks of still being over the limit the morning after. Over a thousand members of the public connected with the teams with many of them not realising the number of units in many drinks and that it takes the liver one hour to process one unit of alcohol, realising the effects of being over the limit the following morning. At the Saffron Walden event, non alcoholic warm punch was offered to show that there are safe alternatives, which was well received by the public on a very cold day.
