Education & Enforcement Day

Essex Road Safety Officers worked in partnership with Essex Traffic Police on the most recent Education and Enforcement Day  which was conducted in Chelmsford on July 14th and looked to enhance the operation with the use of an educational centre.

108 drivers were stopped and dealt with at the road side for failing to wear a seat belt. 51 elected to attend a course held in Chelmsford on that day as an alternative to the fine. The education course was delivered by qualified DSA instructors who normally work with the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme.

As a result of drivers being stopped for not wearing their seatbelts there were 2 arrests , 60 mobile phone offences, 150 drivers hours offences,  92 other Fixed Penalty Offences and 11 vehicles were seized for no insurance.
