Celebrations for our STARS!

STARS from Southend-on-Sea Borough Council have shone, been recognised and honoured at the annual staff awards ceremony.

The sponsorship-funded event at the Westcliff Hotel, was staged to celebrate the spectacular efforts made by Council staff to help people in the borough. These unsung heroes were picked from nearly 500 nominations made by members of the public, partners, Councillors and fellow staff. Called STARS, the awards scheme stands for Success, Talent, Achievement, Recognised in Southend.
 

Team of the Year Award, sponsored by Capita: Road Safety Team
The Road Team plays a hugely important role in teaching young people to be safe cyclists and pedestrians, and works with new and learner drivers to prevent road accidents. The team uses creative campaigns and techniques, such as dramatisations, to fulfil its role with imagination, commitment and passion, and works with many partners both public sector (Essex Police, NHS South Essex) and private (Keymed) to keep our streets safe.
