Essex Safety Camera Partnership - 21.02.07 Photographic Competition Winner Presentation
The Essex Safety Camera Partnership (ESCP) held a presentation for the winners of our recent photographic competition on 1 February at County Hall, Chelmsford.
The competition was held as part of the "She knew her child's killer" an anti-speeding campaign, as one of the ways to get people thinking about the consequences of speeding in their own communities. 50 per cent of serious or fatal road accidents happen less than three miles from the driver or rider's home address; this amounts to 575 accidents across Essex.
There were 23 excellent entries to the competition.
The first prize of a £500 Jessops voucher went to Chris Gurton from Colchester, second prize of a £200 Jessops voucher went to Peter Elgar from Brentwood and third prize of a £100 voucher went to Tom Smith from Ingatestone. Subject to the photographers' approval, the Road Safety Department will be able to re-use these photographs in future road safety campaigns.
ESCP spokesperson, Roberta Everitt said "We are delighted with the high interest the competition and campaign has received. All the entries were excellent; we found it very hard to choose one winner."
"It is hoped this will encourage people to think about the consequences of speeding in their own communities."
