Essex Police acknowledges the concerns raised by local communities with regards to excess vehicle speed, and is keen to introduce Community Speed Watch in these areas.
Under Community Speed Watch, volunteers from the community monitor vehicle speeds using equipment provided by Essex Police.
Essex Police then write to offenders asking them to respect local speed limits, and stating that enforcement action regularly takes place.
Results to date have proved very positive. A number of persistent offenders have been identified, along with key times of the day when a village would benefit from enforcement activity.
